Featured Speaker:  Paniz Miesen, Senior Environmental Planner, Houston-Galveston Area Council

Paniz Miesen is a Senior Environmental Planner at the Houston-Galveston Area Council, where she focuses on the planning and development of water quality projects, including Watershed Protection Plans (WPPs) and Total Maximum Daily Load/Implementation Plans (TMDL/I-Plans). Her responsibilities include water quality assessment, research, public outreach and education, as well as project management. 

Paniz received a B.S. degree in Biology from the University of Colorado at Denver and an M.S. in Environmental Science from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Paniz previously worked for the Center for Water Supply Studies at Texas A&M in Corpus where she conducted water quality and resource management research in coastal areas. Prior to that, she was an aquatic toxicologist in Colorado, where she performed water quality analysis to ensure wastewater treatment plant NPDES compliance.

Paniz will present an overview of current water-quality status and trends, ongoing water-quality projects, along with a demonstration of the interactive web-based report, bsr2016.com.
